Vintage Bakhtiari Persian Rug

Cherry red, deep navy, and denim blue make up most of this rug, with little flowers in pink, mustard, orange, and gray scattered over every inch. A big navy medallion fills the center, with a cream star-shaped flower in the middle and sawtooth edges all the way around. The Bakhtiari people wove in the mountains west of Isfahan, and they were known for these lively, crowded floral patterns with lots of color packed in. Blue corners with chunky vines and hooks frame the ends. The wine-red border is fun to look at up close, because it’s split into little garden panels, with tiny trees and flowering plants tucked between bigger flower motifs. The pile is thick and in great shape, and at this size it can fill a big living room.
