Vintage Hosseinabad Persian Runner
The cherry-red background is covered edge to edge in a repeating pattern of little flowers, diamonds, and curved blue leaves in pink, cream, orange, and navy. It’s called the herati pattern, though a lot of people call it the “fish” design, because those curved leaves look like tiny fish swimming around each flower. The villages of Hosseinabad, near Hamadan, wove this pattern so often that it became their signature, and the all-over layout is a big part of why it looks so good in a long hallway. A wide cream border full of small rosettes frames it all, between two narrow wine-red stripes. The pile is thick and the colors are still rich.
