Vintage Hamadan Persian Rug

A navy hexagon with a pink sawtooth edge sits in the middle of this rug, packed with little flowers in orange, blue, and red. Dark brown branches grow out from the top and bottom, and the bright red background around them is full of round, pinwheel-like blossoms. The rug looks less like a pattern and more like a big flowering plant. Weavers in the villages around Hamadan usually worked from memory, which is why you get fun extras like the little pink-and-brown shapes tucked into each corner. A teal-blue border with red and orange crosses frames it all, with a cream stripe of tiny vines just inside.
