Vintage Anatolian Turkish Rug
The color combo is what gets me on this one: deep aubergine-charcoal, warm rust, cream, and pops of bright turquoise, all wrapped in a soft sky-blue border. A big cream medallion sits in the center, outlined in turquoise and filled with curling leaves and a little star-shaped rosette in coral and teal. Around it, a rust diamond with stepped edges stretches toward both ends. Near the bottom, the dark background suddenly shifts into a band of lavender. That happens when the weaver ran out of one batch of wool and started a new one, and it’s one of those happy accidents you only get in a handmade village rug. The border is full of little flowers and critter-like shapes in rust and navy, and the pile is still soft and full.
