Vintage Heriz Serapi Persian Rug

A rich brick-red field carries this large room-size piece, dominated by a bold, angular star medallion in navy and cream that radiates outward with the strong, simplified geometry Heriz Serapi weaving is known for — Serapi denoting the finer, more refined end of Heriz production, with a slightly softer palette and more open drawing than standard village Heriz work. That kind of oversized, high-contrast medallion set against dense secondary patterning — florals, rosettes, and small botanical sprays packed edge to edge in coral, sky-blue, and gold — is exactly the balance these workshops struck between bold scale and fine surface detail. A deep navy border, layered with multiple bands of floral vine and geometric stripe, wraps the whole piece securely. The reverse shows a substantial, tightly packed weave, and the color palette is exceptionally rich and well-preserved for a piece of this age. At this scale, it's a genuine anchor for a larger room, with only light, honest wear throughout.
