Vintage Kurdish Turkish Runner
A deep chocolate field, dotted all over with tiny ivory flecks, carries a column of pole medallions down the length of this runner: stepped mauve diamonds outlined in lavender-blue, cream, and flashes of hot pink. Stepped half-medallions in taupe and plum jut in from both sides, so the design seems to shift as you walk along it. Kurdish weavers in eastern Turkey favored this kind of bold, open geometry, often working without a drawn pattern, which gives the layout its slightly irregular charm. The pile is thick and substantial, and the brown has aged into a warm, uneven depth that looks great against wood floors.
