This runner comes from Herki weavers, a Kurdish tribal group working across the mountainous border region where Turkey, Iraq, and Iran meet, known for bold geometric medallions and a confident, high-contrast color sense. Patterns are drafted from memory rather than a formal cartoon, giving each piece a slightly irregular, hand-drawn quality even within a repeating design — no two Herki runners work out quite the same. Colors tend to run rich and saturated, often built around deep reds, indigos, or aubergines set against ivory and warm earth tones. The narrow runner format made these practical for hallways and entryways in their original use, and that same versatility carries over well today.
