Vintage Persian Karaja Runner, Northwest Iran, Mid-20th Century
This runner comes out of the Karaja weaving district near Tabriz in northwest Iran, identifiable by the repeating chain of hexagonal medallions down the field, each rendered in dusty pink, sage green, and warm brown against a soft camel ground. Karaja rugs are known for this kind of geometric, angular medallion work — a style distinct from the more curvilinear florals of nearby Tabriz city workshops, since Karaja production stayed rooted in village-level weaving. The muted, sun-faded palette and soft handle suggest genuine age, and the wear is consistent and even down the full length of the piece.
