Vintage Persian Heriz Rug
A rosy madder-red field runs the length of this piece, carrying a repeating column of angular octagonal medallions in deep plum and ivory — a hallmark of the Karaja villages within the greater Heriz weaving district, where this smaller-scale, densely patterned medallion-run was favored over the bolder single-medallion layouts more typical of larger Heriz rugs. The field between medallions is scattered with stylized birds and angular "crab" motifs, drawn in the geometric, straight-line vocabulary that defines Heriz-area design. A narrow multi-band border in ivory and deep brown-red keeps the frame tight and orderly against all that pattern.
Size: 15'0 x 2'5.5
Material: Wool pile on cotton foundation
All rugs have been professionally cleaned and restored. Age related wear and patina are considered normal. Items may not be perfectly straight or rectangle.
Rugs have been photographed in moderate to bright natural light. Colors may vary depending on the amount of light in your space or due to your phone/screen settings.
Vacuum on low with the brush roller off. Spot clean with warm water and mild soap when life happens. Professional clean as needed.
