Vintage Karaja/Heriz Persian Rug

A brick-red field runs the full length of this runner, carrying a repeating column of angular star-medallions in navy, ivory, and gold — the stacked medallion format is characteristic of the Karaja villages within the Heriz district, where weavers favored this rhythmic repeat over a single central medallion. Small hooked hexagons and geometric fillers scatter through the open field between medallions, drawn in the same straight-line vocabulary that defines the region's weaving. A deep navy border carries a rosette-and-lattice pattern that holds the long runner together visually from end to end.
