Vintage Persian Rug
A soft coral-pink field carries this piece, planted with pairs of slender flowering trees rising from a small diamond medallion set at its center — a tree-of-life arrangement common in Kurdish weaving of the region, where the motif was worked freehand and asymmetrically rather than following a strict formal repeat. Scattered rosettes float loosely between the trees, giving the field an open, breathing quality rather than dense coverage. A bold black border with large stylized florals in pink and cream provides real contrast against the softer coral ground, a hallmark of the graphic, high-contrast border treatment typical of Kurdish work. The wool has a nice soft hand, and the abrash visible across the field is a natural result of hand-spun, vegetable-dyed wool — a mark of authenticity rather than a flaw.
