Vintage Turkish Rug
This is a namazlik — an Anatolian prayer rug — built around the mihrab arch that points toward Mecca, with a stylized hanging lamp motif dropping down the center the way an actual mosque lamp would. The flanking columns represent the pillars of the prayer niche, and the geometric "kilim" border style with the stepped triangles is typical of village weavers working from memory rather than a formal pattern. Hand-knotted wool on a rust-red field, with an indigo arch that still holds strong color. Wear is light and even, with fringe intact on both ends.
Size: 3'8 x 2'2
Material: Wool pile on cotton foundation
All rugs have been professionally cleaned and restored. Age related wear and patina are considered normal. Items may not be perfectly straight or rectangle.
Rugs have been photographed in moderate to bright natural light. Colors may vary depending on the amount of light in your space or due to your phone/screen settings.
Vacuum on low with the brush roller off. Spot clean with warm water and mild soap when life happens. Professional clean as needed.
