Vintage Khotan-Style Rug, East Turkestan (Xinjiang) or Central Asia, circa Mid 20th Century

This piece comes from the Khotan weaving tradition of East Turkestan, along the old Silk Road trade routes, identifiable by its compartmentalized grid layout — a series of small square and diamond-shaped panels, each holding its own pomegranate or geometric motif, rather than one unified field pattern. The soft teal and ivory palette with warm brown accents has faded into something gentle and painterly with age. There’s honest wear and some old fading/staining in spots consistent with a rug this vintage, but the overall structure and color story remain intact and full of character.
